spending time at home was refreshing. the weather was beautiful and the food ever so yummy and karina the cutest little girl. a lot happened and my head's still spinning. we went up to yosemite for the weekend and driving up there was beautiful. i got to drive so that was even better. it took longer (3 hours) because we had to use the north entrance due to the rock slide on the 140 side and although the curves up near groveland were kind of horrific i had fun! my aunt and mother and yes even leonel freaked out about my driving on the super super twisted roads up the mountains but i fared quite well. driving is so good for me. it's better when i drive alone of course. so yeah two new favorite towns in california: snelling and groveland...just beautiful. one with a population of 300 and near the foothills and the other near yosemite and just so scenic and soo many trees! *swoon* i collected two more battle scars from climbing up the the base of yosemite falls with david. it was soo misty/wet, i was completely soaked. but so fun.

the 4th was charming in its small town appeal. the parade once again boasted motorcyclists, GHS cheerleaders, tractors, beauty queens, a float from the senior citizen home and horses and aztec dancers and oh so much more! after we headed over to the city park and enjoyed the wide array of food, drink and entertainment options. i got my fill of horchata (rice water) and pinapple water...yum yum mexican drinks. i saw plenty of folks so that was nice AND weird all at the same time. saw devil wears prada. eh. *shrugs* also heard about the first homicide in decades to happen in our little town. a man snapped, killing his four kids and himself. that was beyond shocking as nothing even remotely that big happens near us. it was just surreal. the worst part was that one of the little girls was david's age so he knew her. oy.

got to hang out with sister, sister's bf and connie and bruno at the fireworks later than night on the football field. i still say the ghs firework show tops the dc one if anything for the soundtrack and organization. two thumbs up. and also the fact that i know everyone there makes the community feel a plus all the way around. then the realization as i watched the fireworks that in a short time i will be in a region of the world where "fireworks" accompany death and destruction rather than celebration. hmm. unfair. it was a nice independence day and it was good to be home with those i love for that.

came back after delay fiascos at the airport but cute military boy made up for that. he was texan and in the area for post-air force military training of sorts so there was some small talk, but he was nice to look at. so much more to do and catch up on for my next trip back in august before cairo but for now the one week breather sufficed. miss everything. everything. but excited for new places. and dc is still and will remain my city.

my body's ability to put up with somuchcrap amazes me...

thought of the day: i don't want to graduate. these are my friends i'm leaving. i won't get this back. and then i'll be alone. with cats. no i hate cats. pandas. or koalas. or anything but boring felines! possibly in another country, sans cats, foreign movies and books. or back home beekeeping? or i could be a park ranger still! if only!ok focus....paper store....real mexican restaurant in dc....what else?right. marry rich. riiiight. good luck with that. ha. yeah i don't want to leave. i am done with COLLEGE but i am not done with people, things, buildings, four seasons.

ps: secretary got #1 on sexiest on-screen moments. i knew it's time to shine would come.

i most def. agree with out of sight. clooney is hot as a prisoner (!) and it's a trunk scene so that's hotter. i don't know about the rest of the list though. hmmm...

another weird dream last night. service elevator, creepy eager friend, roofless mall in an abandoned GREY city, seduction, someone's FATHER (eww maybe the weirdo on the street yesterday?), someone's WIFE (ooh shit!) and me wearing hot dresses (maybe a reference to the search for a senior ball dress that's NOT $500) man, what would freud /jung say ? messed up. this is even when i go to bed listening to the gregorian chant playlist! hmmm. i should really make an effort to accurately keep track of this shit.

1/2 an hour and a juicer and a carving knife...looks like lemonade.

why am i so f'en awake? it's practically daybreak and i'm writing. by choice. i don't have to. but i can. i'm gonna have some serious issues when i land a normal job. so maybe therein lies the key. maybe i can't, i shouldn't get a "normal" job. what about sleep research? i could do that! stay up all night watching OTHER people sleep...hmm...or i could suck blood. really. that would be kinda hot. i mean it's not like i dig vampires or anything. speaking of oddities, i finally convinced yun that she's ready to watch secretary with me. ok ok so it's not that bad, but yunnie is in for a surprise of sorts in the dark romantic comedy genre. most agree it's a grrrreat movie after i MAKE them watch it. at least it's not "May." Boy, Michelle will never forgive us for our Garden State hoax will she?
